Local school celebrates heritage

Participants, including teachers, wore their heritage proudly.

Mahlasedi-Masana primary school in Mamelodi East hosted a three-pronged Heritage Month celebration on Friday.

The celebration started with Mahlasedi’s Got Talent, followed by a culture dressed up for teachers and learners and a Mr and Miss Mahlasedi-Masana primary school pageant.

Dimakatso Moleele Grade 4 educator and co-ordinator of the talent show said learners danced, sang and acted to showcase their talents.

Busisiwe Masilela Grade 5 educator and organiser of heritage leg said the learners embraced their different cultures, diversity and learned more about the different cultures.

Masilela said everyone including the teachers dressed up according to their culture.

Masilela said the dress up was an opportunity for the learners to express their culture and teach others about who they were.

Most of the learners dressed up in Tsonga, Zulu, and Sepedi, the dominant groups at the school.
