Moot police launch successful operation
One person was arrested for being in the possession of drugs and one for being in the possession of a dangerous weapon.
A total of seventeen people were arrested for various crimes in the Moot this past week.
Pretoria Moot police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said this follows the different multidisciplinary operations that were launched.
He said the operations included the police, metro police, CPF, AfriForum and several security companies in the Moot.
“The operation consisted of a roadblock, stop and searches and patrols at crime hotspots in the area,” he said.
Breedt said during the roadblock, 399 vehicles and 856 people were searched.

“Fifteen people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
Breedt said the following arrests were also made:
One person was arrested for being in the possession of drugs and one for being in the possession of a dangerous weapon.
“A gas pistol and baseball bat was confiscated from this suspect,” Breedt said.
“He was also charged with malicious damage to property after he was found damaging the flats intercom system and gate because he was angry at his girlfriend.”

Breedt said the suspects in all these cases appeared in the Pretoria magistrate’s court.
Station commander for Pretoria Moot precinct, Colonel Hlengani Gibin Mashaba commended everyone involved in the operation and warned that operations like these would continue through the festive season deep into the new year.
