Zambian clothing designer wants to share his talent
Given Sinkala is a fashion designer and tutor looking for people who have a passion for design, especially people living with disabilities.
Meet Given Sinkala (48), a top clothing designer from Zambia.
The designer came to South Africa around June last year to share his talent with people living with disabilities.
Sinkala described himself as a fashion designer and tutor looking for people who have a passion for designing, especially people living with disabilities.
Another reason he came to work in South Africa was that he has heard that in South Africa there is a lot of competition.
His passion for designing clothes started at a young age and he grew up looking up at his late father, who was also a fashion designer.
Fashion design is natural to him and he did not go to school to acquire the skills he possesses.

Sinkala said his mission in South Africa was to be recognised as a top designer and he is willing to share his talent with the locals and if possible, work with school children.
He is currently working from a garage in Mamelodi East Section 17, where he is tutoring three students, one of whom is living with a disability.
Being proudly African, most of his designs have a little touch of Africa and he is excelling in making traditional wedding dresses and many more.
He said his clothes are affordable and the community members are welcome to place orders.
He further said his work is different because he brings something different to the clothing industry with a combination of African and urban clothing.
He further said he is also planning to host his first South African clothing exhibition soon and wants to involve more locals in his exhibition.
Sinkala further said he is tutoring people who want to learn from him for free.
