Moot residents are upset over a persistent water leak, which has turned into a dangerous pothole in Lammervanger Street.
The Jan Niemand Park pothole is now so big that residents has put up traffic barriers to warn motorists.
“We do not know what to do,” said local resident Charmaine Vogel.
Vogel told Rekord that at least five vehicles have been damaged since the pothole was formed in December last year.

She said that although the water leakage had stopped, there was still a dam of water left in the hole.
Vogel said the hole is not only a danger to motorists, but also to residents.
“The other day, an elderly lady almost fell into the hole,” she said.
“That was when we decided enough was enough and we placed barriers there.”
Vogel said she was also concerned about water in the hole eroding soil underneath the tar road.
“I am afraid the road will collapse and we will have more damage on our hands.”
Local businessman Cassie du Preez said it was “shocking” the hole had not yet been repaired yet.
“It is extremely dangerous and something must be done urgently,” he said.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the water leak was brought to the metro’s attention in December.
“During repairs, a stormwater pipe running to the water supply pipe was accidentally damaged,” he said.
Mashigo said the metro was awaiting materials to be delivered at their Belle Ombre stores, as the regional team does not have the right materials to fix the pothole.
