Stolen vehicle recovered in Hammanskraal, suspect arrested with signal jammer
A co-ordinated operation between the TMPD K9 Unit and a private tracking company led to the recovery of a stolen car and the arrest of a suspect in Hammanskraal.
The TMPD K9 unit has arrested a male suspect in Hammanskraal after he was found in possession of a car reported stolen in Silverton, east of Pretoria, on August 10.
TMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Mahamba said the arrest was made following a co-ordinated operation after receiving a tip-off from a vehicle tracking company regarding a Blue Suzuki Jimny reported stolen in Silverton.
“The tracking of the vehicle led to the N1 North towards Hammanskraal, where the vehicle was intercepted and stopped safely at the N1 off-ramp to Hammanskraal. A male suspect was arrested on the scene,” Mahamba explained.
He said during the arrest, a signal jammer was found inside the vehicle, a device used to disable electronic security systems, often used by criminals to steal cars.

“The suspect is currently detained at the local police station, where the offences were committed, pending a court appearance.”
The TMPD Chief of Police, Commissioner Yolanda Faro, commended the teamwork between TMPD and the private tracking company, which was vital in recovering the stolen vehicle and bringing the suspect to justice.
