East residents stuck in the dark

The power outage was caused by underground cables that burned.

Residents have been hit by a power outage after cables burned in the east of Pretoria.

Local ward councillor Pieter Van Heerden, who was also just informed about the incident, said it happened in Lynburn Road on Wednesday.

Van Heerden said he has informed the municipality about the incident.

“If they are not yet on the scene, they should be on their way,” he said.

He said the fire department was already at the scene.

Van Heerden said there was yet no estimated time when the power would be back on.

He said it was unclear which areas were affected.

The Tshwane metro and Tshwane emergency services could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
