Metro police on Wednesday night arrested 552 people during stop-and-search operations held in Centurion and the north of Pretoria.
Law enforcement officials arrested 369 people for possession of drugs, according to Tshwane metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.
“A further four people were arrested for the possession of explosives,” said Mahamba.
Police also arrested 174 illegal immigrants.
“One person was arrested for drunk driving. Arrests were also made for common assault as well as bribery and corruption.
“Four people were arrested for pedestrian source of danger.”
Mahamba said similar operations were being planned across the metro to continue to combat crime.
“Well done to all the law enforcement officers involved for a successful operation.”
