Pta officers arrest 29 for drunk driving

“A further 15 were nabbed for possession of drugs."

Roadblocks in the city over the past long weekend saw 29 arrested for drunk driving and a further 15 for possession of dagga.

The roadblocks were conducted by the national police together with the metro police and Gauteng traffic departments.

Police spokesperson Constable Thabang Nkumise said various drug raid operations were conducted by the crime prevention unit.

“Due to police visibility in the city, crime was at it’s lowest during the weekend. A total of 29 people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

“A further 15 were nabbed for possession of drugs,” he said.

Nkumise said more operations would be conducted to eradicate crime in the city.
