The Lyttelton police inspected over 140 vehicles and issued over R13 000 in fines during roadblocks in Centurion on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Captain Dave Miller said the police, Tshwane metro police and private security companies set up stop-and-searches in the Lyttelton area throughout the day.
“Police held various vehicle check points in known crime hot spot areas,” he said.
“Fines were issued for various traffic offenses.”

“The goal was to increase visibility in areas where vehicle-related crimes have become a problem.”
The police searched over 65 people, recovering a large amount of suspected crystal meth in an area near the Irene train station.
“Other drugs and dangerous weapons were also seized,” Miller said.
The police gave residents tips to safeguard their property.
Lyttelton station commander Brigadier Martha Mokobori extended her gratitude to all the members involved in the operation.
“Such operations will continue in the area until the criminal elements feel the heat,” she said.
