The Mamelodi police are investigating a case of arson after a house was torched in what is believed to have been love-gone-sour.
This comes after the Mnyemorathos’ Mamelodi West section D2 home was burnt down to ashes on Saturday.
Mamelodi police spokesperson Constable Yeroboam Mbatsane confirmed that the police were looking for a suspect in connection with the incident.
Family member Dikeledi Mnyemoratho blamed her sister’s ex-boyfriend for allegedly torching their family house.

She said her sister was no longer interested in dating the man “and he wanted revenge”.
Dikeledi thanked the community for rescuing the two children who were alone in the house sleeping the night the house was allegedly set alight.
Apparently the children’s mother had left them alone in the house.
She said the community put out the fire before it could completely engulf the house so only the kitchen was razed to the ground.
Dikeledi blamed her sister for the near tragedy because she “always abandons her two daughters to go partying with friends only to come back home the following day”.
The family has pleaded with the public for donations to help rebuild the kitchen.
Residents said they were awakened by a loud bang and saw a man running in the street and suddenly the Mnyemoratho home was on fire.

Neighbours rushed to douse the fire with water and broke down the locked doors to save the two children trapped inside and screaming for help.
Neighbour Robert Ramogototwane told Rekord that the incident happened at around 02:00.
“We heard a noise and thought that it was the electricity box that had exploded. When we went to check we found the neighbour’s house on fire.”
He said they tried to chase the suspect but he was too fast and he disappeared into the night.
The police advised the public to call the police on 08600-10111 should the suspect be located.
