Welbekend police crime prevention unit made a number of arrests at the weekend.
Spokesperson Sergeant Tsietsi Lamola said operations were conducted in order to achieve a safe and secure environment for the community.
“A vehicle checkpoint was held at the intersection of the R25 and R50 roads on Friday night,” said Lamola.
“Three men were arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol. A 43-year-old man was also arrested for being found in possession of dagga.

Lamola said a 27-year-old was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol at the weekend.
“He is expected to appear before court in this week facing two counts of culpable homicide and a charge of driving a motor vehicle on a public road while under the influence of alcohol following an accident that occurred on Saturday night at about 20:00 along Garsfontein Road at Bashewa,” he said.
“It is alleged that two motor vehicles were involved in an accident and while the occupants were still assessing the scene, a Mercedes Benz drove into them and left two men aged 26 and 23 dead, while four people sustained serious injuries.
He said more operations would be conducted within the Welbekend policing area.
All arrested suspects were expected to appear before in court this week.
Welbekend station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Carel Cronje applauded the members for the good work done and warned especially motorists not to find themselves on the wrong side of the law.
“Welbekend is a crime-free zone and we as the police are saying zero tolerance to any kind of criminal activity,” said Cronje.
