Police quash rumours of deaths at north party

Social media users went into a tizzy and speculated about deaths and rapes at an event near Wonderpark at the weekend.

Pretoria North police have quashed social media rumours that a number of deaths occurred at a party in Akasia at the weekend.

“No one was killed,” spokesperson Captain Riana van Arde said adding that an unrelated rape dockets had been opened for investigation at the weekend.

“They’re not related to the event.”

She said that although it was a “very dangerous situation, nothing serious was reported to the police”.

Although police quashed the rumours, social media users continued to go into a tizzy asking each other what happened at the party:
