Fourteen suspects are due in court on Tuesday for allegedly stoning a 35-year-old man to death and injuring a police officer in Temba, Hammanskraal.
The 14 suspects were arrested on Monday.
The deceased was suspected of murder, according to Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
It is alleged he was taking a detective to a murder scene pointing out where a foreign national had been murdered last week Tuesday.

“While the detective was busy taking a statement, the victim was attacked with stones and other objects by a group of about ten people,” said Dlamini.
“When reinforcements reached the scene, the victim had already been killed.”
He said the detective survived with injuries to his legs.
The 14 suspects face charges of murder and attempted murder.
Gauteng provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela warned police would deal with the members of the community who took the law into their own hands.
