UPDATE: North driver who killed two people remains behind bars

The driver was arrested after ploughing into four pedestrians, killing two, on Thursday night in Temba.

A man who allegedly ran over four pedestrians in the north of Pretoria, killing two, is still in in police custody.

“The suspect is still in custody and will appear before the Moretele Magistrate’s Court for bail application next week Monday,” said police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi.

The driver was arrested after ploughing into the group of pedestrians on Thursday night in Temba.

Moremi said the driver was believed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time.

He faces charges of culpable homicide.
