TMPD nabs three in possession of stolen items in the east
“The same three suspects were arrested [again] by the team in 2018 for being in possession of another stolen Ford Ranger in Mamelodi.”

Metro police K9 officers this week busted the same three men they arrested last year, also for the possession of a stolen Ford Ranger.
“The same three suspects were arrested [again] by the team in 2018 for being in possession of another stolen Ford Ranger in Mamelodi,” said TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba.
While doing patrols in Silverton on Thursday, 11 July, the officers spotted a suspicious white Ford Ranger bakkie.

The vehicle, with the three suspects in it, was stopped and inspected.
“Upon verification of the VIN number of the vehicle, it was discovered that the vehicle was reported robbed from the owner in Mamelodi.”
He said multiple cellphones and cash was also found in the vehicle.
He said the three men were arrested and would appear in court soon.
The reason for their release on the first case is not yet known, but is subject to investigation.
Community safety MMC Alderman Karen Meyer welcomed the arrests and commended the team for their hard work and dedication.

Meyer further urged residents to join the on-going fight against crime, lawlessness and corruption in the city by using various platforms to report incidents.
“Residents are reminded that they can contact the metro police on the 24-hour emergency number (012-358-7095/6).”
She said the recently launched emergency hotline for life-threatening emergencies, fire, ambulance, rescue and disasters also made it easier for residents to contact Tshwane emergency services.
Residents can now also dial 107 toll-free and connect directly to the city’s control centre, in addition to the ten-digit 012-310 6300/5400 numbers.
She further urged residents to report any corruption or bribery involving TMPD members and Tshwane officials on the corruption hotline at 080-874 9263 or internal affairs at 082-891-8625.

Furthermore, she reminded residents that “when they are stopped by the TMPD to obtain the officers’ name and surname on the shield or badge, and to take note of the Registration number of the TMPD motor vehicle concerned and / or the fleet number, example MP62”.
She said this would assist in investigations when a complaint is lodged.
