Local author launches second book
"My wish is to remind the world that freedom was not free. A lot of blood was shed.”
Local author Aubrey Mogase (50) has launched his second book.
The Section D6 in Mamelodi West resident launched Evasive State Gave Rise to Popular Resistance at Mo’s Coffee shop in Mamelodi West.
The book is political commentary though Mogase insists he’s not a politician.
He said this book took him six months to complete and is a political book that seeks to showcase the world that freedom was never free.

“My wish is to remind the world that freedom was not free. A lot of blood was shed.”
Mamelodi was at the centre of political fight against apartheid, he explained.
“This book speaks about the struggle that the community of Mamelodi went through during apartheid with some photos taken during those days.”
He says he feels happy and fulfilled that he managed to complete this book before Freedom day.
“I believe that the heritage of any place is a source of pride to that community.”
“Telling the story of Mamelodi is letting even the generation yet to be born know the origins of Mamelodi.”
