‘Thief’ drives over security guard’s foot in the north
The security guard jumped in front of the vehicle to try to stop the thief.
A lazy afternoon descended into chaos when a fleeing car thief drove over a security guard’s foot at a shopping centre in Doornpoort on Sunday.
“A vehicle was stolen from the parking lot at around 14:30,” Medi-Edge First Responders said in a statement on their Facebook page.
“While suspects fled the scene, they hit a security guard with the vehicle. The guard sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.”
Sinoville police station spokesperson warrant officer Johan van Dyk confirmed the incident.
“The security guard saw the vehicle being stolen. He jumped in front of the vehicle to try and stop the thief from driving off with the car. The thief continued to drive and drove over the guard’s foot as he fled the parking lot,” Van Dyk said.
