Final postponement for KFC assault accused
The group of men face charges of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and pointing a firearm.
On Tuesday, a final postponement was handed down in the case of five men accused of assaulting a couple at a fast food drive-through almost two years ago.
The final postponement was agreed upon after cable theft-related delays were resolved in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court.
The defence team – consisting of three lawyers – highlighted the importance of this postponement being final as the case would be ongoing for two years next month.

The prosecutor requested an opportunity to resolve the challenges the defence faced in getting a response to their representations after they were submitted to the senior public prosecutor.
Stephan Nel (38), DJ van Rooyen (26), Marius Harding (22), Ockert Muller (20) and Joshua Schultz (21) allegedly assaulted Jacob and Dudu Sono at the Montana KFC drive-through in August 2017.
The group – whose bail was also extended – face charges of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and pointing a firearm.

Their next appearance was set for 15 August 2019.
