Power failure hits Pretoria CBD

Power supply in the Pretoria CBD was interrupted since Tuesday morning because of two faulty main feeder cables.

Power supply in the Pretoria CBD was interrupted since Tuesday morning because of two faulty main feeder cables in the Queen Street substation.

“Repairs to the faulty cable are currently underway and it is anticipated to be completed around 21:00,” according to metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.

Sections of the following streets in the CBD are without power:

  • Vermeulen (Madiba)
  • Andries
  • Proes
  • Church
  • Paul Kruger
  • Van der Walt

Mashigo said technicians had managed to switch power back on for a few affected customers through back-up supply.

He said all customers affected by power failures were urged to report it to determine the extent of the outage.

Customers should report outages to customer care centres on 012-358-8999 OR SMS the word “power” to 44676.
