Springbok fans who will be buying their test tickets at Loftus Versfeld this afternoon can watch the team train between 16:00 and 17:00 and meet their heroes afterwards
The Springboks are preparing to launch themselves into the Rugby World Cup with a momentum-boosting performance at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday.
“This is a very important week for us and I’m really excited about what we plan to do. We’re determined to build on the momentum we’ve produced over the past few weekends and we’re really looking forward to ticking a few more boxes before we leave for Japan,” said coach Rassie Erasmus.
According to Erasmus, they are well aware that this is the last 80 minutes they will have before they will leave South Africa.
Due to the fact that 2019 is a Rugby World Cup year, the Rugby Championship has been shortened. This means the Springboks will only be in action twice on home soil this year. After they beat the Wallabies 35-17 a few weeks ago at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg, only one home game remains for the Springboks before they will be leaving for the World Cup in Japan.
On Saturday, Pretorians will have the opportunity to say goodbye to Erasmus’s team on behalf of the country’s rugby fans before they will be leaving for Japan, where they will play a final warm-up match against the Japanese on September 6 before their grand opening game in the World Cup tournament against the All Blacks on September 21st.
The Springboks are holding an open training session at Loftus on Tuesday (15:50 to 17:10), followed by a meet and greet when the Boks will join the sales force.
“This is the last chance we’ll have to show the South African public what we can do and after our last game at home against Australia, we’re looking for a repeat. We’ve felt the country behind us in the past few weeks and we’d like to see them behind us in the stands,” said Erasmus.
Saturday’s match against Argentina kicks off at 17:05 and tickets are available from www.ticketpro.co.za and the Loftus Versfeld ticket office.
