Mthombeni said liquor traders needed to respect their neighbours at all times and they should stop playing their music loud and always comply with the Liquor Act at all times and liquor traders should operate from 10:00 until 02:00.

“We are having weekly meetings but there are liquor traders, including those who have licences to operate, who still don’t comply with the act.

“We are increasing efforts to eradicate illegal outlets that are destroying our communities with alcohol especially in the far east of Mamelodi.”

Mthombeni also pleaded with the public to stop drinking in public places especially at street corners and community parks.

Sibanda also said confiscated liquor from non-compliant liquor outlets will be disposed of in due time.
