NEWSFLASH:Driver airlifted to hospital after multiple truck collision on R21 highway
The truck driver sustained serious injuries and a specialised helicopter ambulance was dispatched to airlift the man to hospital

A truck driver was airlifted to hospital following a collision between three trucks on the R21 highway south on Tuesday morning.
Netcare 911 emergency service spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the collision took place just after the Flying Saucer interchange.

“Reports from the scene indicate that three trucks were involved in the collision,” he said.
“The driver of the second truck was found to have sustained serious injuries and required advanced life support intervention to stabilise him while fire and rescue services used the Jaws of Life to free him.”
Herbst said due to the nature of the patient’s injuries, a specialised helicopter ambulance was dispatched to airlift the man to hospital for further treatment.
“The cause of the accident will be subject to police investigation.”
