UPDATE: Water tankers dispatched to west as reservoir repairs underway

Due to the magnitude of the problem, it cannot be estimated at this point when water will be restored.

Repairs to the Iscor reservoir in the west of Pretoria are still ongoing following a broken valve, Tshwane metro has said.

Residents in the western parts of Pretoria have been without water since last Thursday.

“The team has been dispatched to repair a broken valve on the outgoing pipeline of the Iscor reservoir,” said Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.

“It was further discovered that the pipeline that runs along the Pretoria West police academy was vandalised. Due to the magnitude of the problem, it cannot be estimated at this point when water will be restored.”

He said that the metro had dispatched seven tankers to add to the 14 that were already servicing the affected areas.

The following areas/facilities were still affected by the interruption on Tuesday morning:

 

  • Pretoria Industrial
  • West Park
  • Kwaggasrand
  • Proclamation Hill
  • SAPS Training College
