“The friends had been hanging out at the shop for the entire day,” said Anver’s mother, Shaida.
“At around 19:14, a group of boys who are known to us, entered the premises and walked directly to Anver and Kyle.”
“For reasons unknown, the attackers reportedly proceeded to grab Kyle and stab him.”

“My son, Anver, was also attacked and sustained seven stab wounds in total.”
Kyle was stabbed six times in the stomach, according to grandmother and guardian Minnie Booysen.
“He can’t eat anything, is in a lot of pain and is being fed through a tube.”

Meanwhile, police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe confirmed the stabbing but said it was an “isolated incident”.
“The incident was not immediately reported to police,” Selepe said.

“The day after, the mother of one of the victims came to the Laudium station to report the stabbing and a case was opened.
“The detective made numerous enquiries at the scene and three suspects were identified. Two were arrested and one is still at large.”
The suspects had since been released into their parents’ custody.
