NEWSFLASH: No injuries in Mamelodi CIT robbery

"The driver and crew were robbed of their handguns."

Six armed robbers took money and handguns from a cash-in-transit (CIT) van in Mamelodi on Saturday.

The robbery happened at around 12:45 in Tsamaya Avenue.

“The armoured van had been standing near the Mamelodi SPAR opposite the hospital,” said national police spokesperson Colonel Brenda Muridili.

“Six men, four armed with handguns and two with rifles, approached the van and robbed it of an undisclosed amount of money.”

“The driver and crew were also robbed of their handguns.”

The men then fled the scene.

Muridili confirmed that no shots were fired and no one was injured during the robbery.

Police are investigating a case of armed robbery.
