North residents warned to be alert when relaxing at local park

Soshanguve police have warned residents who use a local park not to relax in it late in the evening.

Soshanguve police have warned residents who use a local park not to relax in it late in the evening.

Captain Stephen Maluleka said the park in block KK was not safe after dark following a spate of crimes committed in and around the recreational facility.

The crimes include armed robbery, common robbery, common assault and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“As the police station, we would like to urge the community to take the necessary precautions and take heed of this all important message,” said Maluleka.

Maluleka said police would ensure more patrol vehicles frequently visited the facility.

“As the law enforcement agency, it is a constitutional imperative to protect the people of the republic and inform them about hot spots and crimes plaguing the residents while simultaneously combating it,” he said.
