Many were arrested during a two-day operation Okae Molao [where is the law] in the west policing cluster.
Police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane said the operation was in the wake of a series of incidents of lawlessness in the city center and surrounding areas.
He said Pretoria West, Pretoria Central and Sunnyside policing areas were targeted “to ensure that the communities of Pretoria feel safe from criminal activities”.
Zwane said twenty seven people were arrested for crimes such as possession of drugs and stolen property.

Furthermore a 102 buildings, more than 780 people and 490 vehicles were searched.
Three liquor outlets were shut down for selling alcohol without a licence and the liquor was seized by the police.
“The police confiscated illicit cigarettes and food that have long reached expired date in one of the premises,” he said.
He said hefty fines were issued for non-compliance in the second hand goods act.

“We strongly believe that this will serve as a deterrent should people think of contravening the law in any way,” he said.
Tshwane district commissioner, Major General Daniel Mthombeni thanked all the men and women in blue and other safety and security interested parties.
All detained suspects were scheduled to appear at various magistrate courts in Pretoria on future dates.
