Suspicious activity can be reported to your local CPF directly, on any WhatsApp groups or to your private security company, according to Daryl Cummings of Wierdabrug sector 2 CPF.

“The more information you can provide, the better,” said Cummings.

To report on pedestrians remember to highlight the following:

– Type of clothing: jeans, T-shirt, jacket, shorts, dress, shirt and smart pants
– Shoes: takkies, slops/sandals or “smart” shoes

For vehicles remember the following:

– Make: VW, Toyota, Ford
– Model if possible – or SUV, sedan, bakkies, minibus
– Colour: silver, white, dark grey
– Registration number: even if only a partial number
– Markings: stickers, scratches, dents
– Windows: tinted or not

Cummings reminded residents to secure their properties by keeping all doors and gates locked.

“Go back to basics: know your neighbour,” he said.

“Be vigilant no matter where you are and report all crime. Don’t leave valuables visible in vehicles or your home.

“Don’t leave any keys close to windows where suspects can get easy access to them to open doors or steal vehicles.”

Cummings warned residents not to approach anyone who appeared suspicious but to rather alert the authorities.
