UPDATE: Construction worker doing well after cement mixer mishap

“We visited him again yesterday and took him some clothes, toiletries and sweets. I am sure if he is craving sweets, he is already feeling much better”.

It was doubtful that the construction worker who lost his leg while cleaning a cement mixer last week, would be discharged from hospital this week, his employer told Rekord.

“We don’t know for how long he will still be in hospital,” the owner of the Bon Accord factory where the man worked said.

“He is still recovering. They want to make sure he is 100 percent, before they discharge him.”

The worker, believed to be in his 30s, was cleaning a cement mixer last week Friday, when the mixer was switched on and he was seriously injured.

He was also receiving counselling and a trauma counsellor has also attended to other employees at the factory.

“We visited him again yesterday, and took him some clothes, toiletries and sweets. He is already feeling much better.”

The construction worker’s mother was also on her way from Limpopo to come visit him.

Due to the nature of his injures, a Netcare911 helicopter was activated to take him to a nearby hospital.
