Missing: Abduction fears as east man goes missing
Following a police investigation, it was found that money was withdrawn numerous times from his account since he went missing.
Silverton police are investigating a case of kidnapping after a Mamelodi man went missing on Tuesday.
Tumakgole Elias Modiba (60) left his Mamelodi home on Tuesday, to meet up with his wife in Silverton.
“Upon arrival, Modiba left his vehicle at a car wash and called his wife to meet up with him at a grocery shop nearby,” said Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato.
“The wife said she waited over an hour at their meeting spot but her husband never pitched up.”
Sepato said the wife became suspicious and called her husband, who answered and said he was on his way.

“The wife was unconvinced by the manner he spoke and decided to look for him at the car wash.”
She found Modiba’s car still parked, however, he was nowhere to be seen.
Sepato said the wife immediately alerted the police, who began a search.
“Following a police investigation, it was found that money was withdrawn numerous times from Modiba’s account in the past few days.”
Sepato said it was believed that the 60-year-old may have been abducted and forced to withdraw cash.
