Arrests, cars recovered in east police blitz
"Three people were arrested in Waterkloof for possession of suspected stolen iPhones and 12 different bank cards."
Several people were arrested and a number of abandoned vehicles recovered during the weekend police operations.
During the blitz, the police also recovered hijacked vehicles and arrested one of the most wanted suspects.
“A suspect wanted for several robberies in Mamelodi, east of Pretoria was arrested,” spokesperson Bontle Rahatji said.
“Members also arrested seven suspects for stolen goods and hijacked motor vehicles and recovered the same number of stolen and hijacked motor vehicles,” she said.

Rahatji said the arrest of three people resulted from a tip-off.
“The three were arrested for being in possession of stolen electronics, including a TV, speakers and cellphones in Mamelodi.”
She said they were driving in a white Toyota Fortuner which was allegedly stolen in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga, earlier this month.
“The members further arrested three suspects in Waterkloof for the possession of three suspected stolen iPhones and 12 different bank cards.”
She said the suspects could be part of a card scamming syndicate in the area.

Rahatji said the following abandoned vehicles were recovered around the Tshwane metro.
“A white Isuzu, white Nissan NP200, grey Toyota Etios and pink Toyota Conquest.”
The vehicles were reported to the police in October.
“A black Toyota Run-X and green Volkswagen Polo were also seized under the suspicion that they were stolen,” she said.
The engine numbers of the vehicles were tampered with but “the investigation continues”.
Those arrested – between the ages of 30 and 40 – were set to appear in court soon on charges of possession of stolen goods, hijacked motor vehicles and armed robbery.
