A robber was shot and wounded during a house robbery in Ashlea Gardens, in the east of Pretoria, on Friday afternoon.
Brooklyn police are investigating a case of house robbery, attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm, said police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.
“This after a group of suspects managed to gain entry to a property in Ashley Gardens. The owner was alerted to the situation by his domestic worker.

When he went to investigate, one of the suspects who was already on the premises, produced a firearm and began to fire at the owner, who then returned fire towards the suspect.”
Miller said during the exchange of fire, both the complainant and the suspect were hit.
“The suspect has been taken to hospital and is under police guard. The complainant was injured in his leg and has received medical treatment. “

Police recovered an unlicensed firearm on the scene. It will be sent for ballistic testing to see if it can be linked to any other cases in and around the Pretoria area.
CSI security spokesperson Dana Bloem said two other suspects escaped with an SUV.
“The client was working at home when he was confronted with three intruders inside his property. One of them tried to stab him with a sharp object and another then fired shots at him. He returned fire and wounded the armed attacker,” he said.
