NEWSFLASH: Armed robbery at Centurion cellphone store
“No shots were fired and no one has been arrested at this stage.”
Police are searching for five men who robbed a cellphone store in Doringkloof on Wednesday afternoon.
The store is located at the Doringkloof Mall.
The robbery happened at around midday, according to Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.
“The five men are said to have entered the shop and forced the owner to lie on the ground,” Miller said.
“One of the men was reportedly armed.”
Miller said the men then took cellphones and fled the scene in a white Volkswagen Jetta.
“No shots were fired and no one has been arrested at this stage.”
The owner of the store, Ali Raza, confirmed no one was injured but raised concerns over crime in the area.
“The Sunday before last there was an attempted robbery on my shop,” Raza told Rekord.
“The following day there was a robbery at the store next to mine.”
“As shop owners we are very worried about our safety and security in this area.”
Doringkloof Mall management could not be reached for comment.
