Counterfeit spices, cigarettes, herbal gin and sanitary pads were among the items recovered by police in Sunnyside on Friday.
The local police together with various law enforcement organisations seized the items as part of a crime prevention operation.
The organisations included SA revenue service, Tshwane metro police, and governmental departments, according to police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela.
Mavimbela said almost 500 litres of alcohol not suitable for consumption and 255 pre-Rica registered SIM cards were also recovered.
“Four suspects were arrested for illegal possession of dagga,” he said.
“A 34-year-old suspected drug dealer was caught after a substantial amount of dagga was found in his possession.

“An illegal liquor store was closed down after it was fined for illegal trading. Police seized alcohol at the premises.”
Mavimbela said eight more suspected bogus security guards were allegedly found performing various security functions without proper accreditation.
“Police arrested 10 allegedly undocumented migrants after they were rounded up to the local police station, where they were expected to be processed in preparation for possible deportation.”
The operation, dubbed “operation economic stimulus”, was brought about due to the concerns of residents in and around the capital, according to Tshwane district police commissioner Major-General Daniel Mthombeni.
Those arrested during the operation were expected to appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon.
