Shots fired in north cash-in-transit heist, armed gang on the run
The suspects bombed the truck and took an unknown amount of money from the truck and fled from the scene.
Police are looking for a group of armed men who robbed a cash-in-transit truck in Onderstepoort on Monday.
National police spokesperson Colonel Brenda Muridili said the robbery happened around 17:30, along the R566 road near the intersection of N4 in Pretoria North.
“The armoured truck was travelling from Rosslyn to Silverton when the suspects came across and started firing shots,” she said.
“The suspects, armed with rifles, shot at the truck and its tyres, forcing the truck to stop.”

Muridili said that the suspects approached the security officers, pointed them with firearms before taking the driver’s firearm.
“It is alleged that the suspects were utilising three SUVs and wearing blue overalls with balaclavas and hand gloves.
“They bombed the truck and took an unknown amount of money from the truck and fled from the scene,” she said.
Muridili said no injuries were reported and no arrests were made.
