Several injured in Centurion mass shooting
One of the injured people is believed to be a police officer.
Multiple people were injured during a shooting in Centurion on Monday evening.
Netcare911 emergency service spokesperson Shaun Herbst said paramedics were called to the scene on the R55 road, from the Mall@55 up until Olievenhoutbosch around 18:23.
“One person believed to be a police officer has been shot, he sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital,” he said.
“Multiple other people sustained gunshot injuries as well.”

Herbst said no fatalities had been reported despite several reports on social media indicating otherwise.
Reports suggested that the shooting was related to taxi violence, but police were yet to comment
The number of the injured could not be confirmed either as police were still investigating.
“The entire area has been cordoned off,” Herbst said.
According to social media reports, on the same road a group of people have gathered and were burning tyres.
It was unclear whether this was related to the shooting.
