Residents in the Moot were mourning the death of a familiar face in Capital Park.
Babsie Cowley (95) was found dead in her house on the corner of 7th Avenue and Flowers Street on Friday morning.
“She was murdered on Thursday evening, but her body was only found on Friday morning,” said neighbour and yearlong acquaintance, George Pieterse.

According to police spokesperson Captain Augistinah Selepe, preliminary investigation indicated that the woman was suffocated.
She said on Saturday the police had taken a person in to station for questioning.
“The police are continuing their murder investigation,” she said.

Pieterse said he has known Cowley for about 40 years.
“I basically grew up in front of her,” he said.
“She was very active in the community and known by many.”
