“The 41-year-old was arrested at the weekend, for allegedly extorting bribes from motorists,” Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) spokesperson Simon Zwane said.

RTMC’s anti-corruption unit and the Hawks swooped on the traffic officer on the R80 Mabopane highway, north of Pretoria, where he was allegedly performing the illegal activities.
“It is alleged that he was demanding R400 bribes from motorists for violations of traffic regulations,” Zwane said.
He urged members of the public to report corruption and bribes to 0861-400-800 or through WhatsApp on 083-293-7989.
