One man was airlifted to hospital after he was shot in the head during a cash-in-transit robbery in Pretoria West on Saturday morning.
The incident happened at WF Nkomo Street at a Kit Kat Cash & Carry store, according to police spokesperson Captain Brenda Muridili.
“Security guards were exiting the store with a money box when they were attacked by armed men,” she said.
“[The armed men] fired shots at them, injuring two of the guards, one in the leg and the other in the head,” she said.
She said the suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
No arrests have been made.
The guard who was shot in the head was transported to hospital in a stable condition, said Ambu-Link paramedics spokesperson Xander Loubser.
“The other patient was taken to a local private hospital.”
Muridili appealed to anyone with information to call Crime Stop at 08600-10111 or send a tip-off via the MySAPS app.
“All information received will be treated with confidentiality.”
Kit Kat Cash & Carry was not available for comment at the time of going to print.
