A vehicle was recovered by the police on Saturday morning, minutes after it was reported stolen.
According to Lyttelton police spokesperson, Captain Dave Miller, the vehicle was stolen on the corner of Saxby Avenue and Henri Road.
“Fortunately, alert members of the police’s forensic services noticed the vehicle had crashed into a pole,” he said.

“They immediately contacted the Lyttelton crime prevention roving (patrols for a designated area that’s on shift) team.”
Miller said upon arrival, the alleged thieves already escaped, evading arrest.
“The vehicle was taken at a guest house not far from where it was recovered,” he said.

“We would like remind our communities to be vigilant at all times and to report any suspicious activity.”
He encouraged residents to get involved with their local CPF.
