WATCH: Joint multi-disciplinary operation in Centurion yields success

A big, joint, multi-disciplinary anti-crime operation was held on Friday.
More than 80 personnel of different entities, security personnel, inspectors of the SPCA, CPF members, Tshwane metro police and Lyttelton SAPS members formed part of it.
The Marikana informal settlement, on the corner of West Avenue and Hall Street in Centurion, which is home to 250 people, were searched for drugs, drug users, illegal immigrants and the illegal trading of alcohol.

Five people were taken into custody for operating illegal shebeens – five for dealing in liquor without a valid permit or licence. Three people were arrested for contravening the immigration act.
The five that got the wrap for dealing in liquor without a licence were fined and released.
Illegal immigrants are set to appear in court soon. The outcome will be determined next week.
According to Lyttelton police spokesperson, Captain Dave Miller it is rewarding when everyone takes hands to help with crime prevention, social crime awareness and address liquor and drug abuse.
“Thank you to all parties who were involved in the operations. It was a huge success,” said Miller.
Bidvest Protea Coin, Omega security, Denel’s K9 unit, Monitor Net security, Aequitas security, Copwatch security, Bull security, Tshwane metro police, Lyttelton SAPS, Lyttelton CPF, the SPCA and ADT formed part of the operation.
