Two nabbed for cable theft in west
One suspect was in possession of an unlicensed firearm in the west that was reported stolen at Jericho SAPS on 28 February 2019.
Two men were arrested for cable theft and possession of unlicensed firearms in the west this week.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on Monday, at 03:00 after he was spotted cutting a cable at the Electro train station.
Prasa confirmed the cable was worth R40 000.

When searched the suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition too, said Pretoria West Spokesperson Constable Sibongile Vuma.
“The investigation further revealed that the firearm was reported stolen at Jericho SAPS on 28 February 2019.
“The suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and tampering with infrastructure.”
In a separate incident a 32-year-old man was arrested at Shutter Street after a Prasa control officer spotted the suspect on camera carrying a cable.
According to the officer who wanted to remain anonymous, the cable is known as a signal cable worth R8 000.
“The suspect was immediately arrested for cable theft and detained at Pretoria West police station,” said Vuma.
The two suspects will both be appearing at the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon.
