Local barbershops have started to implement rules for Covid-19 client safety.

They are sterilising combs and clippers and each client can wash their hands when entering and exiting the shop.

Here are a few barbershop owners in Pretoria explaining what they use in their barbershop:

Q’s Hair and Beauty

Monique Wissing, owner of the shop stated the following rules to maintain a clean and safe environment for both staff and clients from Covid-19:

– Our salon is well stocked with disinfectants, sanitisers and cleaning supplies.

– We require clients and stylists to wash their hands before any service.

– All cleaning schedules are followed by all stations, high-touch surfaces, towels, capes and products are disinfected regularly.

– Employees with flu-like symptoms will be required to stay home until they are symptom-free.

A sick policy is followed by Q’s Hair and Beauty:

– No sick clients are admitted.

– When a client gets sick, or comes in contact with a sick person, they should cancel the appointment.

– All cancellation fees will be waived during this period to ensure the salon is safe.

Legends barbershop in Hatfield:

The barber shop has set a few rules for dealing with clients and staff:

– Limit the number of customers to 24, hourly.

– Chairs and equipment will be disinfected before a customer is seated.

– Customers and barbers to wash their hands before service commences.

The Cut Barbershop

Samantha Botha, manager, said that they were using different products to sterilise their clippers.

– All barbers should use hand sanitiser.

– Hand sanitisers are available for clients entering and exiting the shop.

– Before clients are seated, all seats and door handles are wiped with antibacterial products.

Danie’s Barbershop

Owner of Danie’s Barbershop in Pretoria North, said he was well aware of the virus and used hospital disinfectants.

“I use D germ and D scrub for the walls, floors, hands and clippers.”

My Barbershop

Izzy du Toit, manager of My Barbershop in Centurion, said they made sure that the floors, combs, clippers and seats are clean before clients enter the shop.

“We use babercide and babersol to sterilise all clippers and Detol and Savlon for our clients’ hands.

Italian Barbershop

Tanni Chardi, manager of Italian Barbershop, east of Pretoria, said the shop was perfectly sterilised and clean of all germs.

“All our clippers are sterilised with clipper oil, all barbers wear masks and gloves and wash their hands before and after each cut.”

The Village Barbershop

Jess Donaliton, manager of The Village Barbershop, said they kept their work environment hygienically clean.

“Immediately when a client enters the shop, they sterilise their hands. The barbers wear gloves and masks and sterilise all clippers with sterilising spray.”
