Gauteng confirmed cases at 801, recoveries 157

The number of confirmed cases in the country has risen to 2 003 with Gauteng still the epicentre.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases for Gauteng is now at 801 with the number of recoveries at 157.

This as the national tally of confirmed cases rose on Friday, to 2 003 with 410 recoveries.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Kwara Kekana said of the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province, 86 people were currently hospitalised in both public and private hospitals, with 10 in intensive care units in various facilities.

Johannesburg is leading all districts with 446 cases, followed by Ekuruleni with 120 cases and then the City of Tshwane with 90 cases.

The West rand and Sedibeng are reported to have 12 and 6 cases respectively.

The department said 127 infected people in the province were still unallocated.
