Suspected thief wounded in Moot shootout
“One suspect was wounded after gunshots were fired between the suspects and law enforcement.”
A man was wounded during a shootout with police and security on Wednesday evening.
Kilnerpark security (KPS) spokesperson Klaas van de Kooi said officers were alerted at 21:05 about a suspected stolen vehicle on the corner of Collins and Robyn streets in Waverley.
Police and security then chased the vehicle, which is believed to have had multiple suspects in it.
“One suspect was wounded after gunshots were fired between them and law enforcement,” he said.
“A vehicle was recoverd and the wounded suspect was admitted to hospital.”
Villeria spokesperson Captain Koba Brits said a case of possession of stolen property was opened in Mamelodi and a case of business break-in was opened in Villieria.
Brits could not provide additional information.
