Three arrested in the east for contravention of lockdown regulations

Three males have been arrested in the east of Pretoria on Sunday for contravening the lockdown regulations.

The men were arrested by the TMPD tactical and task team.

TMPD spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said a 47-year-old male was arrested in Sunnyside for dealing and being in possession of dagga and for the sale of cigarettes contravening the Covid-19 lockdown regulations.

“He was in possession of dagga and cigarettes with an estimated value of more than R10 000.”

He said the other two male suspects were arrested in Nellmapius when they were found transporting boxes of cigarettes in contravention of the lockdown regulations.

“The estimated value of the cigarettes is R40 000. Additional charges, including bribery, were added as they tried to bribe the officers with R770,” Mahamba said.

He said other charges include fraud and being illegal immigrants.

Mahamba applauded the officers for a job well done.
