Two arrested in north with an undisclosed amount of dagga

Confiscated deposit slips showed substantial amounts of money deposited daily to the individuals.

Two men, both 31-years-old, were arrested in Soshanguve block UU, with an undisclosed amount of dagga on Saturday.

Captain Augustinah Selepe said the arrest was made during an intelligence-driven operation by the Tshwane District Crime Intelligence and Gauteng Traffic Police (SLEU).

“Police acted on a tip-off regarding a suspect who supplies dagga around Soshanguve, block UU.
Selepe said two suspects were found. While searching the property, bags with a large quantity of dagga of an undisclosed value was discovered.

“Preliminary investigations indicated that the dagga was purchased in large quantities from a farmer outside the boundaries of South Africa,” she said.

She said according to deposit slips that were confiscated, substantial amounts of money were deposited daily to the above individuals.

“Investigations are ongoing and more suspects were to be arrested soon. The suspects were to appear in court soon on charges of drug dealing,” Selepe said.

Tshwane District Commissioner Major General Tommy Mthombeni praised the police for their pro-active action.

“As the police, we will not stop to eradicate this social ill as it is one of the major root causes of crime in society.”
