Truck driver trapped in wreckage in West accident

“A large truck had veered off the road and crashed through a wall into a carport where two parked cars were crushed.”

A truck driver was injured on Thursday afternoon when his truck veered off the road and crashed into a wall of a business on Roger Dyason Road, west of Pretoria.

According to CERT-SA’s spokesperson Ruan Heyns, this was the second truck collision they responded to in the day.

“A large truck had veered off the road and crashed through a wall into a carport where two parked cars were crushed,” he said.

Heyns said the truck driver sustained moderate to severe injuries and was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated using the so-called “jaws of life”.

“The patient was transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition by Gauteng emergency medical services.”

Heyns thanked EMS and TMPD for their assistance on the scene.
