Man shot in foot during Lezonia home invasion

“The men assaulted the tenant and demanded money before shooting him.”

A man was shot in the foot on Sunday evening on a smallholding in Lezonia on the outskirts of Centurion.

CERT-SA spokesperson Ruan Heyns said the tenant living in a flatlet on the smallholding was awoken by the sound of a window breaking.

“When he investigated, he was confronted by at least five armed men trying to gain access to the flat.”

He said the men assaulted the tenant and demanded money before shooting the man in the foot.

“The home invaders then fled the scene with empty hands.”

Heyns said the victim was transported to a nearby hospital by Netcare911 in a stable condition.

He thanked the Erasmia Police Station, Scorpion Risk Services, Netcare911, ER24 EMS and the Lezonia plot watch for their assistance on the scene.
