CERT calls on community to help
With the current dire financial climate due to the national lockdown, CERT-SA is calling on community members to assist.
Cert-SA, a non-profit emergency response team, said it was struggling to keep its head above water during the national lockdown and asked the public for help.
Based in Centurion, Cert-SA (community emergency response team) is based in Centurion and has practically become a household name in the area.
“We provide lifesaving emergency services to the community and render emergency medical, firefighting and rescue support services to all existing emergency services,” said Cert-SA spokesperson Ruan Heyns.

“Our services are at no cost and not limited in any way by factors such as financial status or discrimination towards any person or living creature.”
Since Cert-SA is an NPO, it is totally dependent on donations. However, with the current dire financial climate due to the national lockdown, it was taking strain and they were struggling to keep their heads above water.
“We are a volunteer service; our medics that work on the road are also volunteers and also do not get paid.”
Cert-SA was founded in 2014 by Heyns, Herman de Vries and George Deysel. Heyns, who has been in the industry since 2004, said he was passionate about people and serving them in their time of need.
He said they shared common interests to save lives and serve the community in any way possible.
